Permission slip to rest.

Hey Bestie,

Let’s settle this once and for all: burnout ≠ laziness.

Lazy says: “I could, but I don’t wanna.

Burnout says: “I want to, but my brain and body have left the group chat.

See the difference? You’re not broken; you’re just crispy around the edges.

Here’s your official Permission Slip to Rest:

  • Close the tab that’s draining you.

  • Put on a silly playlist (bonus points if you dance like no one’s watching).

  • Let yourself nap, doodle, or snack without guilt.

Your spark isn’t gone; it’s just curled up under a blanket, waiting for you to catch up. And when it wakes up? Oh, bestie… it’s going to shine brighter than ever.

💌 Save this email for the next time you need the reminder. And because sometimes we need a literal note to wave in front of ourselves, I made you a Permission Slip download (just click the preview below to download the full resolution). Print it, scribble your name in, tape it to your wall, or insert it into those digital planners. If you’d prefer, I’ll even add your name for you at no cost. Just hit reply and give me the deets.

Reminding you always, rest is productive,

Phoenix Kate 🕊️

Here’s what’s coming your way in September:

  • Autumn Journal Kit: Have you heard the news? My newest bundle of goodies gets released on lucky September 13th and it’s packed full of all things spooky and Autumn-y. So far there are pockets, bows, lace, and lovely Dutch doors in addition to a customizable journal to use as YOU need, no brainpower needed.

Social media got this glimpse last week.

Ember readers got the first peek at the next set of elements here, though. What are you most excited to use first?

  • Launching the Luminarium: We have an official launch date for the Lunarium, happening on September 30th! Mark your calendars because the Ember subscribers get automatic access. Check your email on launch day for the official password!

Sneak peek at the welcome page!

  • Mini Reset Ritual: Try this: tonight, list 3 things you want to feel this month. Not do. Feel. Then let your goals grow from there. Yes, we did this last month. Do it again. Trust me.

In Case You Missed It

Gratitude Journal: Last week, we released a 30-Day Gratitude journal, perfect for igniting a more mindful life in the days ahead: Grab yours here.

Confession Time: Are you a member of our Facebook community? I started a series of prompts to get us all sharing and connecting but admittedly they received very little engagement. Wanna help me out and show some huge support without spending anything? Threads like those are the perfect opportunity! 🥹

A New Subreddit? Reddit users, you might see a new subreddit suggested in your feeds. Last week I quietly created a community for creators, vendors, and consumers of all things related to Digital Planning. I have not marketed this community, but of course, I wanted to make sure Ember readers got the first peek. See the community here. Please bear with me as we are in the very early construction phases!

Phoenix Prompt of the Week:

When you feel crispy or burned out, what’s one small ritual that helps you feel like yourself again?

When I hit crispy mode, I don’t try to force the spark. I grab a chocolatey coffee (because, hello, life fuel), curl up under my softest blanket, and let myself doodle nonsense in the margins of a notebook or on my iPad or Samsung Tab. No pressure, no masterpiece, just scribbles, swirls, and silly little foxes. Somewhere between the chocolate sip and the messy doodles, my spark always sneaks back in, tapping me on the shoulder like, ‘Hey, I missed you.

Final Spark:

Even a phoenix doesn’t rise in an instant. It first collapses into ashstill glowing, still alive beneath the surfacewhile it gathers the strength to return. Burnout is your ash stage. It’s not proof that you’re weak, it’s proof that you’ve burned bright. Rest is not failure. Rest is fuel. Give yourself permission to step back, breathe, and let the embers cool. Your spark will find you again, and when it does, it’ll light up everything in its path.

With smoke-streaked hands and feathers glowing,
